PDI’s unique Patient Sponsorship Program (PSP) helps families bridge access barriers that include expensive transportation, lodging and medication costs. Other considerations include subsidizing treatment expenses, based on a sliding scale, for families who do not qualify for MediCal, Healthy Families, or other insurance programs.
The PSP utilizes a variety of funding sources to pay for services received at the surgery center by families without the means to pay. Funding sources include corporate sponsorships, sponsorships from services clubs, partnerships with local dental associations and societies, fundraising campaigns and private donations.
Case managers refer patients to the PSP only after all other insurance, transportation and other barrier specific alternatives have been exhausted. The PSP guarantees that priority for treatment will not be dependent upon a patient’s ability to pay, as often occurs when families try to access dentistry services with anesthesia.
